MANAGING ACCOUNTS
I
do not have my Activation Code.
Contact GovOS support

to confirm account details to be verified for the account, and you will need
written (email) permission from a registered owner or officer of the business
for us to provide you with an activation code.
How do I connect to my account(s)?
Follow steps 1-5 below;
repeat these steps if you manage multiple accounts or have a consolidated
account. If you do not complete these steps, your accounts or licenses will not
be visible in the business center.
- Below
the section Manage Your Account(s), click the hyperlink "Add or remove
accounts from your user log-in by clicking here."
- Select the first option, "I'll
be using a GovOS Activation Code to locate/connect my account," and click
next.
- Enter the account
number and activation code, and click lookup.
- Once your business has been
located, click next, choose a role from the drop-down, and click the green "Create
This Connector."
- Click Finish to return to
the business center.
You are now connected to this business(s).
I manage multiple accounts. Will I need a separate log-in for each account?
No,
you can manage all accounts under one username. When registered, repeat steps
1-5 above to gain access to all your managed accounts.
Can I have multiple users on my account(s)?
Yes, each user for the
account will need to register their email address. Registered users will follow
steps 1-5 above to add themselves to an account.
I have an accountant, authorized agent or bookkeeper. Do I need to register? What do they need?
You do not need to register
as a new user in GovOS if you do not wish to. Your agent can manage your
compliance for you. If you want your authorized agent to handle your account,
you can send them your activation code and account number.
I have a consolidated account(s). How do I connect to my primary or subsidiary account(s)?
The main account will
be referred to as the primary account. The additional locations will have a
separate account number and activation code; these will be subsidiary accounts.
If you have not already done so, you must register as a new user; you only need
to register your email once. You must repeat steps 1-3 above to connect to each
location. If you do not complete these steps, your accounts or licenses will
not be visible in the business center.
How do I print my license?
From
the business center, click the account name under the "Manage Your
Account(s)" header, and click on the PDF icon on the right hand of the
screen under the "Licenses" header.
A license will not be available to print if you have
incomplete and delinquent tasks in your business center.
REMITTING TAX IN THE ONLINE PORTAL
How do I remit my taxes?
You may file monthly, quarterly, or yearly tax forms in GovOS.
Per your account filing frequency, your tax forms will be available to file on
the 1st day of the month following the last day of the tax period. The taxes
are due on or before the 20th and are considered late if e-filed/postmarked
after the 20th of the preceding month.
If you need to remit your taxes manually, mail the
completed City of Colorado Springs Tax form to the City of Colorado Springs,
Department 2408, Denver, CO 80256-0001. Check payable to the City of Colorado
Springs. Please confirm that you use the correct account number on your tax
return.I have a consolidated account; can I file a single return for all locations?
One return may be filed for
all locations under the primary. You will not be able to file under a
subsidiary location. The license renewals will be due separately per location
(primary and subsidiary).
Can I file a Zero-Tax Return?
Indeed, you can file a zero-tax return. Just choose the relevant tax
form in your business center, provide the necessary information on the
remittance, including gross sales and deductions, and then click submit. You'll
be directed to your cart items, where you should click the payment method
button, confirm there's no amount due, and click the complete transaction
button. Finally, you'll be redirected to a receipt to confirm the completion of
the transaction.
What is a Debit Block ID?
Debit blocks are in place
to protect your bank account from unauthorized electronic debits. Add the
originator identification (ID) number 1522077581 for each debiting bank to your
approved list to ensure that your authorized electronic debits will be allowed
(ACH Debit)
Can I pay by e-Check (ACH), Credit Card, or Debit Card?
You can conveniently file and pay online using an e-check
(ACH) or major credit/debit cards such as Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and
American Express. Our third-party payment processor, SIPA (The Colorado
Statewide Internet Portal Authority), facilitates online transactions. There is
no e-check (ACH) payment fee, but a minimum $1.00 tax payment is required.
Credit and debit card payments will incur a service fee of $0.75 plus 2.25% of
the order total. For security, only the last four digits of your account number
are visible to city staff and the third-party payment processor, and we don't
store any payment information for future use.
Your web browser
might retain your information during the payment process. If your payment is
returned due to an incorrect entry of your checking account information, you
must clear your browser cache.
Will I be able to pay by ACH Credit or Wire Transfer?
The City of Colorado
Springs will not be accepting ACH Credit or Wire Transfer payments.
Can I schedule a payment?
No, for your security, GovOS
does not store any payment information in the system.
My Business Center is empty. I have no tasks to be completed.
Per your account filing
frequency, your tax forms will be available to file on the 1st day of the month
following the last day of the tax period. Monthly filers, your form will be
available on the 1st of each month. Quarterly filers, your form will be
available the 1st of the month following the quarter end. For annual filers,
your tax form will be available on January 1. Don't hesitate to contact
the City if no tax form is available according to your frequency.
Can I see my tax return & payment history?
You can access this
information in your business center under Transaction and Informational
Activity. Data may not be available for imported/historical data from the prior
system.
Can I pay my license renewal for my sales tax license (2022/2023 and prior)?
Yes.
License renewals were available to pay three months before the expiration date
of each license. You would have been notified of the renewal. If your primary
account is set as consolidated, the license renewals will be due separately per
location (primary and subsidiary). If you have discontinued business, you must
file an account maintenance form to close your account(s).
Is there a fee for a license renewal?
As of September 1, 2023, the City of Colorado Springs has
eliminated the $20.00 renewal fee beginning with the renewal period 2024/2025;
any prior unpaid renewal fees are still due and payable to the City of Colorado
Springs. A renewal form is required to be completed online to renew and extend
the expiration date on a sales tax license. If your primary account
is set as consolidated, the license renewals will be due separately per
location (primary and subsidiary). If you have discontinued business, you must
file an account maintenance form to close your account(s).
Is there a fee for a license?
As of September 1, 2023, the City of Colorado Springs has eliminated the
license fee for all license types; any prior unpaid license fees against
accounts are still due and payable to the City of Colorado Springs.
What tax forms or fees can I file online, pay?
You can file and pay various taxes online, including
Sales & Use Tax, Schedule C, Lodgers Tax, Automobile Rental Tax, Motion
Picture Theater Tax, Bicycle Excise Tax, Consumer Use Tax (FF&E), License
Renewals, License Fee, Returned Payments, Returned Payment Fee, Payment Plans,
and Audit Assessments.
However, Amended
Returns, underpayments on previous returns, and account credits for future
returns cannot be processed online. You will need to contact the City for
instructions.
MAINTAINING OR UPDATING ACCOUNT IN NEW ONLINE SYSTEM PORTAL
Will I be able to remove myself from an account(s)?
Yes, through the business
center, select "Add or remove" under the Manage Your Account(s)
section. On the next page, click the Manage Connectors tab, then the red Remove
button next to the account you want to disconnect from.
Will I receive automated reminders?
Automated email reminders
will be sent to your authenticated email address for tax returns or license
renewals for six (6) months. If you did not receive an automated reminder,
please confirm the email address from your user registration and verify that
blt.str.support@govos.com is listed as a safe sender and that the
email is not in your junk/spam folder

My account needs updating, or I need to cancel my account.
To update any changes in
your business information, like mailing address, phone numbers, DBA, or account
closure, click on your business name under "Manage Your Account(s)." Use
the "Account Maintenance Form" link on your business-specific page to
update details or request an account closure.
I have a new user email.
From the business center, note
the account number and code under the Manage Your Account(s) for all accounts
you are linked to. Then, under the Manage User Account section,
"Click HERE to register a new email address," to register a new user,
you will need to reconnect to your account(s).
I forgot my password.
Click the blue
"Existing User Log-In button," click the link "Forgot your
password," enter your email address, and click the "Submit"
button. An email will be sent with instructions for creating a new password. If
you have a spam filter enabled, add blt.str.support@govos.com to
your safe senders list. If you receive no email, contact GovOS.
Can I amend a tax return online?
No, you cannot file an
amended return online. To access the amended return, visit the City's website HERE, and click the subsection
Amended Return. Complete the applicable form and mail it to The City of
Colorado Springs, Attn: Sales Tax, PO Box 1575, Mail Code 225, Colorado
Springs, CO 80901-1575
Am I preregistered as an account user if I file for a new license?
Yes, by registering for a
new license or account, you will be automatically linked as a user for the new
account.
Can I apply for a new license or add a location to my primary?
Yes, applications are required to be completed online.
Licenses available to file for: Sales & Use Tax License, Use Tax Account,
Single Temporary Special Event License, Multiple Temporary Special Event
License, Exemption from City Sales & Use Tax Certificate, and Commercial
Aeronautical Zone (CAZ) Exemption Certificate. Resale (wholesale) certificates
are managed through The Colorado Department of Revenue.
Click the link to "apply
for a new account" located in the Action Center.
I am a construction contractor and do not have a license. I need to update, close or pay my account.
As a construction contractor without a license, you can manage your
account by updating, closing, or making payments. If any business details have
changed (mailing address, phone numbers, DBA), visit the Business Center,
select your business name under Account & User Information, and click the
"Account Maintenance Form" link- this allows you to update
information or request account closure. Contact our office at 719-385-5903
(option 3) for online use tax filing; City staff will need to initiate the tax

I have a CAZ Exemption. I need to make changes to my account or print my license.
For any updates to your business details

"Account Maintenance Form" link on your business-specific page for
updates or closure requests. Print your license by clicking the PDF icon under
"Licenses." In the future, the annual report filing will be available
